We are a producer and supplier of high-quality medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and medical consumables. In addition, we develop and supply our own software and hardware for radiotherapeutic treatments and radiological imaging. We primarily focus on hospitals, independent treatment centers, and other medical facilities, both nationally and internationally.
Job satisfaction is our top priority. This remains the guiding principle of owner Remko Hooijer. We believe that enthusiastic and driven employees are capable of finding the right solution for every challenge. In our organization, collaboration takes precedence over hierarchy.
In everything we do we put people first and we provide a meaningful contribution to the ‘quality of life’ for patients, ‘quality of work’ for healthcare professionals and a sense of pride among our employees.
Cablon Medical is recommended by healthcare professionals within its specialty markets and is seen as thé partner to work with, due to its drive to continuously improve the quality of healthcare.
Cablon Medical Systems was founded in 1972 in Australia for the development, production, and service of Ultrasound (Octoson) and QA.
Cablon Medical Netherlands was founded 45 years ago by Pieter Boele. The originally Australian company supplied equipment for ultrasounds at that time. It was initially a small company with only a service and repair department.
After a management buyout, Remko Hooijer took over the company and has been the owner ever since. The company expanded, adding its own sales organization in the Netherlands alongside the service organization. It focused primarily on product specializations in radiography and dialysis. A total of 4 employees worked there. His vision was, and still is, that job satisfaction and enjoyment at work take precedence.
With the knowledge and experience gained in the dialysis world, it became clear that the market needed improvements. Cablon Medical decided to sit down with all stakeholders to discuss what could be better. This marked the beginning of developing specialized software for dialysis, called Diamant.
DiaSoft was founded in 1991 by Cablon Medical and Stichting Thuisdialyse. The dialysis professionals were looking for a patient record, and the two companies set to work on that.
5. Cablon Medical experienced significant growth between 1983 and 1992. The company now has about 20 employees and has expanded its activities beyond dialysis to include Radiology, RADX lightboxes, Radiotherapy, Nephrology, and artificial kidneys. In 1994, TheraView was also developed in collaboration with InfiMed, a company specialized in digital imaging. Cablon Medical became the European headquarters for InfiMed in digital imaging for X-rays.
Shortly after the start of the development of the dialysis software, DiaSoft continued independently as a separate entity, with its own management, to focus entirely on dialysis software.
6. The pharmaceutical division starts, and we engage in import and export activities of, among others, Phos-ex (Calcium acetate). The revenues from our pharmaceutical division are invested, on one hand, in product development and, on the other hand, in the European distribution rights for Theraview from InfiMed, an American company with radiotherapy products.
In 1994, the agreement was made with DGN (Dialysis Group Netherlands) for collaboration in the development of the dialysis software Diamant. During the development of the Diamant software package, all stakeholders regularly met to test and evaluate the work of our programmers.
Hospitals could utilize our services at cost price if they provided feedback to further optimize our software.
Cablon Medical acquires the American company InfiMed, including the radiotherapy product TheraView, and has its own design & development, production, sales, training, and maintenance departments. Together with Elekta, the first major tender is won for the delivery of no less than 100 radiation devices, securing the existence of our radiotherapy division. The digital X-ray activities of InfiMed are discontinued.
That year, Cablon Medical also becomes a dealer for GE (General Electric) in the field of C-arms and mobile X-ray.
Further development of the TheraView EPID (Electronic Portal Imaging Device) by Cablon Medical; an image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) verification system for the treatment of cancer. In 1999, DGN and DiaSoft were so pleased with the development of Diamant that they officially introduced the dialysis software to the Dutch market.
Within two years, 90% of Dutch dialysis centers were using the Diamant software package.
Currently, there are 32 employees at Cablon Medical and DiaSoft. Two years after the introduction, 44 out of 50 dialysis centers in the Netherlands are using the Diamant software package. A Windows version based on JAVA has also been developed. Cablon Medical becomes a dealer for Sinmed products to expand the radiotherapy department.
A partnership is also established with Nikkiso. This includes the dealership for dialysis machines and the development of machine connection / home monitoring.
Cablon Medical Systems Australia is (re)launched. The service organization initially focuses on RADX lightboxes in Australia and Southeast Asia. Additionally, plans are made for the service of Nikkiso dialysis machines and Diamant. To expand the pharmaceutical division, CosmoFer®, intravenous iron, is added to the pharmaceutical product line. A year later, the intramuscular variant of this is also introduced. Around this time, Cablon Medical Radiology begins selling custom radiation protection (Scanflex) in the Netherlands.
In this year, the conversion from DOS Diamant to Windows takes place. Additionally, CosmoFer® (intramuscular) is also included in the GVS. In the radiology division, there is an expansion with urology tables and lithotripters from Dornier.
Between 1998 and 2004, several products were also developed specifically related to radiation equipment, such as table control, patient registration, patient verification, and patient identification. Diamant, the dialysis software from DiaSoft, begins expanding beyond borders to various European countries starting in 2004.
Work is also being done on establishing our own dialysis clinics.
Introduction of the Diamant Smart Terminal in Europe: a device that connects dialysis machines with Diamant software.
Additionally, the development of UltraiQ takes place, a quality control program for ultrasound transducers, along with our own line of phantoms. In 2006, the name Sinmed changes to Civco, and Theraview Couch Setup Assist (TCSA) is developed.
In 2006, Cablon Medical began the construction of Diapriva, a center for day, self-care, and night dialysis. This offers patients three forms of treatment for kidney failure in one center—a unique concept in the world at that time.
Cablon Medical acquires the representation of TauroLock® in the Netherlands, a catheter lock solution to prevent infections and clot formation.
We also obtain the distribution rights for anthropomorphic body phantoms for the Netherlands and later for Belgium (2021).
The sales of Monofer®; intravenous iron (the successor to Cosmofer®) begin.
Around this period, Cablon Medical has added the palm scanner to its portfolio. The palm scanner is crucial to ensure that the right patient receives the correct radiotherapy treatment, providing a 100% error-free match between patient and treatment. This has been successfully introduced throughout the Netherlands.
In addition, new developments for Theraview followed, such as the TBI detector in 2016 and the PIM in 2018.
With an eye on the future, a name change takes place; Theraview, TBI, and PIM will continue under the name CNERGY. That year, Cablon Medical also acquires the representation of LAP Lasers. These are laser lines for proper patient positioning during radiation treatments.
For over >20 years, Scanflex radiation protection has been available in the Netherlands; since 2020, it is also available in Belgium. Diapriva is sold to Fresenius Medical Care.
Cablon Medical celebrates 45 years and has transformed from a reactive to a proactive company with a strategy-driven approach over the years. With more than 50 Cablon employees, we are working hard to further shape the existence of Cablon Medical for the future. We aim to expand into other sectors and broaden our range of products within our specialties: radiology, radiotherapy, and pharmaceuticals. Civco and Qfix merge into CQ Medical, and Cablon Medical retains the representation for the Netherlands.
We are also introducing a new measuring system with Radcal and have recently become the exclusive distributor of OpenCeilings for hospitals.
Additionally, we introduce the product Ray iQ; a web app developed by Cablon Medical that makes the annual inspection and administration of radiation protective clothing easier and more organized.
Cablon Medical has developed a lead apron configurator that allows you to put together your own lead apron.
